Sakura Sencha is built on sencha from Makinohara and Kanaya, Shizuoka, blended with the flowers and leaves of Somei-yoshino cherry from Izu, Shizuoka.
The sencha uses yabukita, the cultivar that represents Japanese tea. It has the balance of sweetness, umami and moderate depth typical of yabukita.
The Somei-yoshino flowers and leaves are salt-cured, then desalted and dried, so a gentle sweetness and saltiness like sakura-mochi opens up within the sencha flavor.
The tea bag format makes it easy to use at home, at work or when out.
Sakura Sencha suits spring, the cherry blossom season, and can be drunk all year round. Cherry blossom is also an auspicious motif, so it works as a gift for anniversaries and special occasions.
